Some Christians, steeped in the unbelief of the world, or afraid that they might be accused of being gullible, try to strip the Christian story of the miraculous elements, in the hope that so pruned, it will appeal to more people. Yet the whole story of the Christian faith is permeated with the conviction that God acts in the world.

The whole conviction of the Bible is that God does involve himself in our world and in our life - and that it makes perfect sense for the individual Christian, or the Christian community, to invoke his power, invite his Spirit into our need, to bring changes, to work his miracles small and large.
